VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program) Volunteers Needed

Making Change along with CASH Campaign of Maryland is hosting a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site in Howard County for the 2020 tax season. VITA utilizes IRS-trained volunteers to provide free tax preparation to individuals and families earning $56,000 or less each year.Volunteers are the core of the program, and serve as tax preparers, quality reviewers, greeter and office staff. Of particular focus for the program is helping taxpayers with special credits, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit(EITC) and the Credit for the Elderly or the Disabled.

Training will begin January 2020, and tax preparation will be held late-January through mid-April at the Non-Profit Collaborative in Columbia, and the Multi-Service Center in Laurel.

Individuals who can provide Spanish or Korean language translation expertise are welcome to help us expand our outreach.

No experience is necessary, but this is a wonderful chance to learn new skills, meet new people, and serve our community! Thousands of Marylanders count on VITA to get them through the challenging job of filing their taxes. Won’t you volunteer to help them?
