JOB TITLE: Salvage specialist (Brick + Board Division)
JOB GRADE:

STATUS: Non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager (Brick + Board Division)

Position Summary: Salvage specialists will work both on site and in the warehouse to salvage, process, and mill reclaimed materials. The work is performed using a variety of tools/ supports such as wrecking bars, sledgehammers, axes, shovels, saws, hammer drills, scaffolding, ladders, and in some cases small vehicles such as Bobcats or forklifts.
Responsibilities:
Follow the direction of the onsite supervisor and utilize tools and skills to successfully deconstruct buildings and process and mill materials.
Use care in extracting materials to retain the maximum resale value
Contribute to a positive team attitude and encourage high team productivity
Maintain safe practices in the work place and ensure the safety of co-workers
Represent Brick + Board and its parent company, Humanim, in a fashion that is consistent with our company values; demonstrating professionalism, dignity, respect in all work related matters
Provide proper notice of necessary lateness or absence; follow procedures for requesting time off
Participate in agency meetings
Other job-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or department Vice President
Qualifications: Physically able to comfortably carry 50lbs unassisted and engage in strenuous physical work in a variety of postures for 40 or more hours a week; Previous experience or current training in the use of power tools, non-powered tools, scaffolding, ladders, and other building related equipment; Able to wear all protective gear including but not limited to, eye protection, hard hats, dust mask, steel toe boots, half-face respirator, and others; Ability to work in an environment that may include environmental/job site dust; Naturally occurring or corrected bilateral vision and hearing acuity; Access to reliable personal transportation or public transportation in Baltimore City to arrive at dispatch by as early as 6:00am; Able to work in a team and follow the direction of the team leader. Ability to drive commercial vehicles preferred.
For mandated job sites, must be medically qualified and clean shaven to wear a half-face respirator for safety purposes.
