Part Time Music Therapist

The Music Therapist coordinates programs for therapeutic purposes and integrates overall developmental goals into the academic setting through the use of music. The Music Therapist may also manages the behavior of students to create a safe physical and emotional classroom environment. The Music Therapist must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis and demonstrate the ability to utilize its methods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 Plans, develops, and implements individualized educational program goals in accordance with curriculum and individual county requirements if necessary for individual students.
 Plans, develops, and implements music therapy in order to assist students in accessing the curriculum
 Manages student behavior to encourage the best possible student educational experience.
 Interacts with and participates in consultations with supervisors and specialists as appropriate in order to plan and prepare each child's individualized educational program in accordance with goals related to music therapy.
 Assists other professional staff in developing Functional Behavioral Analyses and Behavior Intervention Plans based on Positive Behavioral Supports.
 Attends meetings to facilitate comprehensive program planning.
 Prepares appropriate documentation and reports on programs and on student progress.
 Supervises the work of others, including aides, volunteers and staff assigned to the classroom.

Other Duties & Responsibilities
 May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
 Must at least have a Bachelor’s degree.
 Hold a valid Maryland certificate in Music Therapy appropriate for his/her assignment.
 A skill set that includes the ability to interface in a professional manner with Linwood staff, parents, school system personnel and other professionals.
 Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
