The Office Manager skills and expectations:

  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and ability to multi-task.
  • Flexible daytime work hours. Position starts at 20-25 hours weekly, with more hours required from time to time for a special event or mailing. Position is primarily in office in Columbia, MD, with occasional remote work opportunities available. 
  • Experience with a variety of office software (email tools, spreadsheets and databases) and administrative duties, including scheduling meetings. Familiarity with cloud-based tools, like GSuite, Gmail, GDrive, GDocs, and OneDrive preferred.
  • Familiarity with donor management systems to track donations, create reports, and acknowledgement letters. 
  • Assist the Executive Director in tasks such as event planning, presentations, and fundraisers, programming, etc.
  • Prepare written documents, including acknowledgment letters, memos, forms, reports, grant updates, and newsletters.
  • Proficiency in MS Office including (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.)
  • Manage/schedule social media posting and content.
  • Experience with Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Website updating and management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new computer programs and take on tasks as needed.
  • Manage correspondence with donors, grantors and families we serve.
  • Ability to collect and track multiple forms for financial aid and new employee paperwork.  
  • Familiarity with graphic design programs, such as Canva or photoshop is ideal.
  • Experience as an Office Manager or an Administrative Assistant preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to change. 
  • Team player with a positive attitude and a sense of humor.
