TITLE: Behavior Assistant
DEPARTMENT: School Program
REPORTS TO: Behavior Specialist
FLSA: Non- Exempt

Position Summary
The Behavior Assistant is primarily responsible for assisting in all aspects of the implementation of each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP). The Behavior Assistant must demonstrate a strong understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and is responsible for acquiring and maintaining certification in Personal Crisis Management (PCM) and acquiring and maintaining knowledge in the following areas: behavior management strategies and techniques (related to Applied Behavior Analysis - ABA), data collection, data entry, and basic data analysis.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- Must be at least 21 years old
- AA degree preferred
- Work requires knowledge in behavior management techniques and methodologies in ABA, and special education teaching techniques, normally acquired from working one to two years in related field
- Work requires substantial interpersonal skills sufficient to work with a wide range of students and staff under various circumstances requiring patience, understanding, and flexibility
- Must successfully complete the training and maintain certification in Professional Crisis Management (PCM), which includes the management of behaviors in crisis or emergency situations. This can be obtained on site after employment
- Work requires analytical abilities and organizational skills sufficient to assist collection and tabulation of data as needed
- Must possess a skillset that includes the ability to interface in a professional manner with Linwood staff, parents, school system personnel and other professionals
- High quality oral, written and professional skills
