Yoga Salutes Non-Violence (YSNV) is celebrating its 14th year supporting HopeWorks of Howard County, our local rape crisis and domestic violence center.

We recognize the need for changing the way the Yoga Center of Columbia hosts the event this year due to Covid19, while continuing the tradition of supporting this important organization.

Yoga Salutes Non-Violence is a charity event to raise awareness and support for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Students and practitioners gather together to participate in 108 Sun Salutations (or as many as they can). All funds raised directly support HopeWorks and survivors of sexual and domestic violence.

This year the event will be virtual AND there will be two different styles to choose from: 108 Sun Salutations on the mat or 54 Sun Salutations from the chair.

Each year we honor the memory of Cheryl Catranbone, a vibrant woman who lived a life of purpose and passion. From early on, Cheryl knew there was more to life than what we see on the surface. With Cheryl’s practice of peace and love, she served the greater community and created Yoga Salutes Non-Violence. Her mission was to raise awareness and support for the survivors of domestic and sexual violence through the practice of yoga. Yoga at its core encourages nonviolence, compassionate action, and service to those in need. It is in her loving memory that we continue her work.
