One event on January 25, 2021 at 6:30 pm

You’re invited to HopeWorks first community book club: “Between the Lines: A Liberation Book Club”

“Between the Lines” will host online book club meetings every other Monday via ZOOM from 6:30- 8:00 pm. In addition to these meetings, the book club will use the platform GoodReads to communicate and create community participation throughout the month. Book club moderators will be able to post discussion boards and keep the conversation going with the whole club’s participation.

This Month’s Book:
Join us in reading our first book of 2021, There There by Tommy Orange. There There is the “brilliant, propulsive” story of twelve unforgettable characters, Urban Indians living in Oakland, California, who converge and collide on one fateful day. There There, the first novel by the Cheyenne and Arapaho author Tommy Orange, is a wondrous and shattering portrait of an America few of us have ever seen. It’s “masterful . . . white-hot . . . devastating” at the same time as it is fierce, funny, suspenseful, thoroughly modern, and impossible to put down. Here is a voice we have never heard—a voice full of poetry and rage, exploding onto the page with urgency and force. Tommy Orange has written a stunning novel that grapples with a complex and painful history, with an inheritance of beauty and profound spirituality, and with a plague of addiction, abuse, and suicide.
